OONA
Oona is a young Atlantic Puffin. She lives on Puffin Rock with Mama, Papa and her little brother Baba at the Puffin Burrows. She is a very loyal friend and loves spending time and exploring the island with them.
BABA
Baba is Oona’s younger brother and he looks up to her, wanting to be just like his big sister. He is very inquisitive by nature and is fearless as he explores the island. He is always learning about new creatures on the island and making new friends. As the narrator says, “No one can resist a Baba.”
ISABELLE
Isabelle is a young Tufted Puffin who has just arrived on Puffin Rock after fleeing from a storm that destroyed her island. She is having difficulty adapting to her new surroundings but she is a good puffin at heart.
MOSSY
Mossy is a very tiny, very excitable and very fast pygmy shrew. He can eat huge amounts of food and is always hungry. He is very funny even if sometimes he’s a bit naughty and sassy. He is the leader of the shrew crew, a group of four other shrews he lives in his den with.
PHOENIX
Phoenix is Isabelle’s best friend and adopted brother. He has come to Puffin Rock with Isabelle’s family and is open to new experiences so he makes friends easily and loves exploring his new home.
MARVIN
Marvin washed up on Puffin Rock’s shores after getting lost at sea. He is young and frightened and hides in a cave until Oona and her friends find him. He is very timid so Oona has to coax him out so he can see the beauty of Puffin Rock island.
MAY
May is a very energetic rabbit with a competitive streak. Still she is the ultimate cheerleader for her friends and very supportive of their successes. Sometimes she is a little frightened of new things but when she is together with her friends, she feels a little braver and can face new challenges together.
MAMA & PAPA
Mama and Papa are caring and dedicated parents, trying to teach oona and Baba how to find their way in the world. They encourage indepence and resilience in their young but are always on hand when they are needed, to guide, encourage, sometimes to push them and sometimes to catch them. Especially baba! Baba needs a lot of catching...
TUFTED PUFFINS
Isabelle’s parents have worked hard to get Isabelle and Phoenix to the safety of Puffin Rock after their home was destroyed by a storm. It was a difficult journey so they have to return to help other puffins from their colony find their way here. They miss Isabelle and Phoenix but know that other puffins need their help too.
